You’ll find me on two places on the web doing business. Recently in my reading –and I am sorry I did make note so I could reference the source here– I came across a concept attributed to a Native American of having two paths in life…one path is your survival path. This is what you do to make a living. The other is your soul path. This is doing what you truly love. While it is my hope to one day have my soul path and survival path merge and become one, for the time being I, like most, walk two paths.
My Survival Path
My survival path, one I enjoy and appreciate, is as a web designer and co-owner of RKRGraphics.com. My amazing mother is my business partner and we’ve been helping other businesses with their online presence for over ten years. It’s a great job. I spend my day working with the energies of burgeoning potential, creativity, dreams and manifesting visions. And for this I’m paid and appreciated. Not bad at all.
My Soul Path
My soul path, though, is much more complex, or at least it seems that way to me. It is not well-lit or well-trodden, and it certainly isn’t comfortable. And it doesn’t look like anything I ever envisioned when I used to daydream about my future. I’m not even sure I have a titled role…it’s more about what I believe and want to see changed: this frightening and pervasive culture of medical mechanism.
What I mean by that is that our health, whether physical or mental, is one of most intimate connections to spirit. We are human beings, with consciousness, emotions and souls - we are observers and co-creators with creation. Yet that is overlooked and completely ignored by our modern medical system. Health care has become mechanized - like we are autos in garage. And that to me seems completely irrational, unreasonable and certainly illogical. And I believe allopathic medicine can never be fully effective without reintegrating (and more than just as lip service) the principles of mind-body-spirit wholism that had, up until the early 1930’s in this country, been the foundation of man’s understanding of human well-being up until then.
So my second business, my tangible presence in the field of natural health and where I get to try to spread my personal gospel is FlowerWitch.com. I am a flower essence practitioner and restorative counselor. I create custom formulations (helping make more complex therapy affordable) and offer online assessments. Since flower essences are empowering, giving everyone the simple tools to work with energy (spirit, emotion and mind) imbalances, what I really offer on the deepest level is compassionate listening and objective guidance. I try to help my clients feel comfortable that they are making informed and wise choices based on their own needs.
Taking responsibility for our own health?! It’s frightening how much pressure you come up against from family, coworkers and friends to “just go see a doctor and get some pills prescribed”. Subsequently, this blog as it grows, hopefully will help others find support and comprehensive resources when they’ve decided to seek out complimentary and alternative healthcare options.
